PRAYER OF CONFESSION
We come, dear Lord, as confessing people - confessing our
shortcomings, confessing our willfulness, our false pride, our selfishness and
all other sins that infect us. Sometimes our mouths spew anger or unloving
language. Sometimes we take advantage of the slow of mind or those less
educated or of lower social standing. Sometimes prejudice tries to get a
foothold within our minds and hearts and we are strongly tempted to surrender
to it.
Sometimes we may lose the battle. And sometimes we do not
even treat the members of our own household with the love, respect and honor
due them. O Lord, we confess our sins, all of them. Grant us your forgiveness,
and fill us with the desire and the resolve to find renewal within. All of
which we ask in Christ's name. Amen.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: Friends, believe
the good news of the gospel.
All: In
Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!
