Call to confession
Prayer of confession
We confess, sustaining god, we often forget who we are. We forget that we do not live to glorify ourselves but to find freedom of spirit in glorifying you. We even forget that when we work toward wholeness of spirit, fullness of life, we invite the world to glorify you. Instead, we spend our energy on conflicts of trivial proportions, defending our concerns no matter what the cost. We do not hesitate to hurt others to retain our own power. Each of us protects ego and none of us is free in spirit.
May we come to a place where we can be so connected to you that we have the courage of Esther; may we speak the truth in love, full of forgiveness, no matter how such speech might cause us to suffer. May we seek to understand even as we hope to be understood. Forgive us our desire to be right. With your grace, we can rise above rightness to righteousness. In the name of the living Christ, we ask these things. Amen.

The apostlesÕ creed
I believe in god, the father almighty, maker of heaven and earth and in Jesus Christ his only son our lord; who was conceived by the holy ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of god the father almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the holy ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.
