CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
As we travel through life, living God, we seek assurance after assurance. We wish to live in sanctuary, where all is known and all is well. Thank you for sanctuary. Yet, we know that we become comfortable in sanctuary and fail to move from the grounded place to the place of change. We fail to trust that Jesus sends the Holy Spirit so that we might move beyond comfort into invitation and adventure. We are tired. We are worn, and we stay the course.
Forgive us our same ways of doing; help us hear what you would have us be and do differently. Make us trust that there is purpose beyond the one we create in our minds. And bring your Spirit to us, so that we are transformed and become transforming persons for the sake of our reign on earth.
Thanks be to you, living God. Amen.
A Time for Silent Prayers of Confession
Leader: Friends, believe the good news of the gospel.
All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

First Presbyterian ChurchÕs Soup Kitchen is asking us to collect items for hygiene kits. In February they are asking for soap and wash rags. There will be a box in the Narthex for these items.
Once again the Presbyterian Women will be collecting Valentines to be delivered to our veterans at the VeteranÕs Hospital right here in Memphis, by our own Janet Vawter, a nurse. Janet sees first hand how something as simple as a little Valentine can lift the spirits of wounded and sick veterans. Drop your Valentine message in the Valentine box in the Narthex and bring a blessing to our brave veterans. Deadline is February 06, 2008. Thank You, Jean Markham
The MIHN guest will arrive on Sunday February 17th. Watch for the sign up sheet in the hallway. A supply list is posted in the kitchen. Please sign up early. For more information contact Dana Jackson at 377-9374.
The Worship Committee and the Property Committee, with the consent of the Session, have decided to sell the Young-Chang piano that was used in the sanctuary prior to the merger. The piano is a 1995 model G185EP, 6Õ 1Ó grand in ebony finish and has recently been appraised at $6,000.00. The Property Committee is planning to list it with several piano dealers in mid-February but is offering it to members of the congregation at the appraised price until that time. If you are interested in purchasing it, or know someone who is, please contact Bill Carroll or Charlotte Hicks for further information.
Circle #2 will meet the First Monday, February 04, 2008 at 10:00 am at the home of Becky Karnes. Please note the date change.
The Session respectfully requests that any articles submitted to the newsletter be limited to those that relate directly to the programs or activities of the congregation. We appreciate your cooperation--this will be most helpful in getting the newsletter to you in a more timely manner.
Please note Frances Young has moved to Ave Marie Home, 2805 Charles Bryan Road, Memphis, TN 38138, 386-3211.
You are invited to be a loving presence to hospice patients by volunteering with Crossroads Hospice. The dates for their volunteer training are Thursday, February 28th and Saturday, March 1st.
