Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil; for Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.

Amen.

CALL TO WORSHIP (adapted from Psalm 27:1, 4-9)

Leader:      The LORD is our light and our salvation; whom, then shall we fear?

People:      The LORD is the stronghold of our lives; of whom shall we be afraid?

Leader:      We ask one thing of the LORD and earnestly seek it: to live in the house of the LORD all the days of our lives,

People:      To behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.

Leader:      Come, let us sing and make melody unto the LORD.

People:      Come, let us seek GodÕs face!

CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy Lord Jesus, you call your disciples to follow you in the Way, yet oftentimes we fail you and follow the ways of the world instead. You call your disciples to lives of peace and unity, yet, divisions and quarrels are found among us. Forgive us, Lord Christ, forgive us. May we, like those by the lakeside, hear your voice calling us to follow ever more faithfully, calling us to a unity of mind and purpose that will spread the gospel into all the world.

A Time for Silent Prayers of Confession

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader:  The LORD is our light and our salvation! We no longer sit in the darkness of despair, the gloom of sin. So, rejoice, People of God, for I declare to you that in Christ Jesus our sins are forgiven.

All:      In Christ Jesus, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God!

WELCOME VISITORS: In the name of Jesus Christ, we welcome you to worship today. Please sign the friendship pad during the announcements so that we may have a record of your presence today.

First Presbyterian ChurchÕs Soup Kitchen is asking us to collect items for hygiene kits. In January they are asking for travel size shampoo/conditioner bottles. There will be a box in the Narthex for these items.

Once again the Presbyterian Women will be collecting Valentines to be delivered to our veterans at the VeteranÕs Hospital right here in Memphis, by our own Janet Vawter, a nurse. Janet sees first hand how something as simple as a little Valentine can lift the spirits of wounded and sick veterans. Drop your Valentine message in the Valentine box in the Narthex and bring a blessing to our brave veterans. Deadline is February 06, 2008. Thank You, Jean Markham

Day Trippers will sponsor White Elephant Bingo Monday, January 28, 2008. We will have a potluck lunch at 11:30 am and Bingo from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. You are encouraged to bring a new item to be used as a prize that has a value of at least one dollar—one that you have absolutely no use for, but just canÕt bring yourself to part with. Bring a potluck lunch item—bringing a prize is not a requirement, additional prizes will be provided. Reservations are not required. Come join us for a time of fellowship, food and fun.

The MIHN guest will arrive on Sunday February 17th. Watch for the sign up sheet in the hallway. A supply list is posted in the kitchen. Please sign up early. For more information contact Dana Jackson at 377-9374.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the potluck dinner Sunday, January 27th, at 6:00 pm., sponsored by the Property Committee. Since the meat will be provided, it is imperative that you make reservations by calling Linda Cole at the church office at 386-3241 if you havenÕt previously made reservations.

You are asked to bring a vegetable, bread, salad, or dessert. Following dinner, there will be a get acquainted tour of the new building extension. Following the tour, there will be a trivia question contest. Come join the fun, food and fellowship.

The Worship Committee and the Property Committee, with the consent of the Sessions, have decided to sell the Young-Chang piano that was used in the sanctuary prior to the merger. The piano is a 1995 model G185EP, 6Õ 1Ó grand in ebony finish and has recently been appraised at $6,000.00. The Property Committee is planning to list it with several piano dealers in mid-February but is offering it to members of the congregation at the appraised price until that time. If you are interested in purchasing it, or know someone who is, please contact Bill Carroll or Charlotte Hicks for further information.

Please note the following addresses: PS1 (SW/AW) Britt Ripley, CJTF HOAJ1, FPO AE 09363-9998, Lou Kehrli, PSC 451, Box 360, FPO AE 09834-2800.

The sanctuary flowers are given by Grace Presbyterian Women in honor of Reverend Judith Reese for all of her love, devotion, kindness and encouragement she gave Grace Presbyterian Church during her short stay with us.

The PW Board will meet Monday night January 28, 2008 at 7:00 pm at the home of Jan Evans.

Circle #2 will meet the First Monday, February 04, 2008 at 10:00 am at the home of Becky Karnes. Please note the date change.

JOINT WORSHIP SERVICE FEBRUARY 03, 2008, 10:30 am: Sunday School will begin at 9:15 am. This will be Reverend Larry and Beth TurnerÕs first Sunday with Grace and a reception will be held to welcome them following the worship service.
