Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil; for Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of all time, on the first day of creation, you called day and night into existence. Forgive us: for being drawn into sin's shadows; for hoarding your light and grace; for thinking creation is our toy, not our home.

On the first day of his baptism, you named Jesus as your Son. Forgive us: for following other messiahs; for not seeing him in those we love; for not serving those we don't like.

At our baptism, you call us your Beloved. Forgive us: when we think we are your favorite; when we do not embrace the stranger; when we do not love as we should.

A Time for Silent Prayers of Confession

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader:  On that great day by the Jordan: John called sinners to repentance; Jesus yielded to your love; a Voice carved through sin's silence. So, hear, believe and live the Good News: in Christ Jesus, we are all forgiven.

All:        God loves us and claims us; God sends us forth to share the good news of Christ Jesus. Thanks be to God!

REAFFIRMATION OF THE BAPTISMAL COVENANT

Scripture Sentences

Renunciations

Do you renounce all evil, and powers in the world which defy GodÕs righteousness and love?

I renounce them.

Do you renounce the ways of sin that separate you from the love of God?

I renounce them.

Profession

Do you believe in God the Father?

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

Do you believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God?

I believe in Jesus Christ, GodÕs only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Plate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit?

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

You have made a public profession of your faith. Will you continue in the covenant God made with you in Holy Baptism: to live among God's faithful people, to hear his Word and share in his Supper, to proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed, and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth?

I will, with GodÕs help and guidance.

WELCOME VISITORS: In the name of Jesus Christ, we welcome you to worship today. Please sign the friendship pad during the announcements so that we may have a record of your presence today.

A REMINDER ABOUT FINANCES: 2007 is quickly drawing to a close. If you made a monetary pledge to the churchÕs general fund for the current year, please make every effort to pay your pledge in full by the end of December. Also, for those who made a pledge to the Building Fund 3 years ago, please remember that 2007 is the final year to complete payment of these pledges. This is a very critical time for church finances as we close out 2007 and seek to begin 2008 on as strong a financial base as possible. Grace Presbyterian Church greatly appreciates all of you who so faithfully support the churchÕs ministry with your giving.

The Property Committee will sponsor a potluck dinner on Sunday, January 27th at 6:00 pm. Since the meat will be provided, reservations will be required. You are asked to bring vegetables, bread, salads or desserts. Please register your intended attendance on the friendship pads or call Linda Cole at the church office at 386-3241. Following the dinner, the Property Committee will give a guided tour of the new construction. A trivia questions contest will follow the guided tour. Plan to join us for a night of food and fellowship.

Please note the following address: PS1 (SW/AW) Britt Ripley, CJTF HOAJ1, FPO AE 09363-9998

Please note the following cell phone number correction for Wendi Glenn: (901)338-3816.

Please remember that the Annual Congregation Meeting will be held this morning at 10:45. Please make every effort to attend this very important meeting.

First Presbyterian ChurchÕs Soup Kitchen is asking us to collect items for hygiene kits. In January they are asking for travel size shampoo/conditioner bottles. There will be a box in the Narthax for these items.

Day Trippers will sponsor White Elephant Bingo Monday, January 28, 2008. We will have a potluck lunch at 11:30 am and Bingo from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. You are encouraged to bring a new item to be used as a prize that has a value of at least one dollar—one that you have absolutely no use for, but just canÕt bring yourself to part with. Bring a potluck lunch item—bringing a prize is not a requirement, additional prizes will be provided. Come join us for a time of fellowship, food and fun.

Once again the Presbyterian Women will be collecting Valentines to be delivered to our veterans at the VeteranÕs Hospital right here in Memphis, by our own Janet Vawter, a nurse. Janet sees first hand how something as simple as a little Valentine can lift the spirits of wounded and sick veterans. Drop your Valentine message in the Valentine box in the Narthax and bring a blessing to our brave veterans. Deadline is February 06, 2008. Thank You, Jean Markham
